Quarantine Art

Programming continued at Mount Royal Collegiate in September, 2019. But when the pandemic initially hit in March 2020, we had to get creative. We delivered Art Care Packages to FAM members who needed art supplies at home and wanted to continue to connect online. We met weekly on Zoom to hang out, make art, and show each other what we were up to in isolation. At this time, FAM members also contributed to OUTSaskatoon’s Gender-Based Violence Project through art submissions when a call was sent out in May, 2020. FAM mentors and youth artists answered this call for art by submitting photography, digital art, and sketches.

Open Studio & Quarantine Zine Workshops
(July-August, 2020)
By the summer of 2020, youth experienced a pandemic, extra curricular sanctions, global BLM protests, and a dramatically different pride month. Quarantine Zine was a collaborative project to create community and connection in a time of uncertainty and isolation.
FAM’s artist mentor, Alana Moore invited youth to create their own zine (aka DIY magazine) in a series of workshops and open studio time. Artists who made a zine traded completed zines with their peers to start their own personal zine library.
