Coby Bird (he/him) is an artist from Sandy Bay First Nation on Treaty 1 Territory but currently resides in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Coby has been writing lyrics and poetry since he was 13 years old and has always shown interest in creating music, particularly hip hop. In early 2019 Coby co-founded a hip-hop duo called "Skoobi and Slipz" with Draven Squirrel. Their first Recordings were done off an Iphone 6 and a pair of headphones in his bedroom while living with Slipz. Later that year, he discovered an incredible team from Future Artistic Minds (FAM) where he was a part of a collaborative album called "Many Moods of Hip-Hop". Coby is inspired by what he sees in everyday life as a young Indigenous man. In today's society it's easy to be looked down on as a Indigenous person, so Coby strives to be a positive influence with his music. He wants to show the younger generation that there aren't any borders or boundaries that they can't cross no matter the circumstances given. Currently Coby is working on his first solo EP with the guidance of Muskwa Lerat of Earthrok productions with plans of working on a second album already in the works. Moving forward Coby intends to continue to use his music to stand up against oppression and speak out against the colonial context of Canada.
